Is a master’s in Ireland one year?
Many taught master’s programmes in Ireland are one year long, which helps you save time and living costs. Programme length varies by course and institution, and we confirm it for every course we shortlist.
Which English test is accepted for Ireland?
Irish institutions commonly accept IELTS Academic, PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT and some other tests. The required score depends on the course and the institution. We tell you the exact requirement for your shortlist.
What are the intakes in Ireland?
The main intake is September. Some institutions also offer a January or February intake for selected programmes. Start planning 6 to 8 months before your preferred intake.
Can I work while studying in Ireland?
Eligible international students with Stamp 2 permission can work up to 20 hours per week during term and up to 40 hours per week during the holiday periods (1 June to 30 September and 15 December to 15 January). From 1 January 2026, the national minimum wage is €14.15 per hour for workers aged 20 and over.
Is there a stay-back option after studying in Ireland?
Eligible graduates can stay in Ireland under the Third Level Graduate Programme (Stamp 1G) for up to 2 years, depending on their qualification level. Graduates with a Level 8 honours bachelor’s degree generally get up to 1 year, and graduates with a Level 9 master’s or higher generally get up to 2 years, subject to the rules in force when they apply.
